Join us for the first ALAS de Nuevo México Leadership Institute from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6.  The topic will be "Supporting English Learners Through a Culturally Proficient Lens." It will be held at the Albuquerque Convention Center and is sponsored by McGraw-Hill Education and is being presented in partnership with La Cosecha 2013, the Bilingual Multicultural Bureau of New Mexico Public Education Department and the Albuquerque Public Schools Cultural Proficiency Team.

The desired outcomes for this day of learning and networking is to have district and school administrators understand how to assess their own individual reflective practices and their school and district progress in meeting the needs of English Learners (ELs) through a culturally proficient lens.

District and school administrators will understand how to use a culturally proficient lens by examining the four tools of Cultural Proficiency: Barriers, the Continuum, the Guiding Principles and the Essential Elements.

Thanks to our sponsor, McGraw-Hill Education, which recognizes that developing the talents of our citizens to build and maintain a skilled global workforce starts with preK-12 education.
