Ricardo Medina, one of the founders of ALAS and the director of its Superintendents Leadership Academy, encouraged a group of several dozen new members of ALAS de Nuevo Mexico to get organized, work together, set goals and work to make a difference in the lives of Latino and all children.
Medina spoke to the group during its meeting at the New Mexico Coalition of School Administrators Conference on Tuesday, July 24, in Albuquerque.
He said he had a special kinship with New Mexico because the founders of the national ALAS were in Albuquerque in 2003 when they drafted and approved the organization's bylaws, established its purpose and goals and elected officers .
After the presentation, ALAS de NM members formed subgroups to begin their plan of action for moving the group forward. The group plans to meet again in August. Stay tuned for more information.
